NFL.com Is Still Calling The Broncos The "Denver Tebows"

The “fast-charging Denver Tebows” are still “in the hunt” for a Wild Card spot, according to NFL.com. I’d prefer the Denver Not Kyle Ortons, but that’s just me.

These folks are basically all giving themselves an out by saying it&#8217s &#8220unsustainable&#8221 and all that malarkey, because they&#8217re not actually predicting any timeframe or benchmark.

Ted - polarization is the key. Taking positions at the extremes is the best way to stir passions. Any amelioration of that extreme position is a de facto admission of defeat. The MSM wants eyes, and the best way to do that is to stir those passions. And, of course, it works. People love to read things that reinforce their perceptions, and love to attack things that apparently don&#8217t.

I think it is honestly sad that those who are convinced Tebow is the answer shower rudeness and 12-year-old style insults on those who aren&#8217t convinced. Personally I value both sides of the debate, and can see truth (and hyperbole) from both sides.

Meanwhile, here&#8217s hoping that Denver shows up in all phases of the game this Sunday and blows out a weak Minnesota team. This is precisely the type of game that previous regimes have had trouble motivating the team for, and I am curious to see how well Fox et al. do making sure the team plays well.

magster - The points Dilfer made were that the Broncos are more all-in than they maybe realize, because through changing the offense, it would be hard to change it back for a more conforming QB. He also made the point that not many QBs would want to follow Tebow, if he were replaced.

Other points:

* The QB is an icon among the fan base, and hellfire would rain down if he were replaced at this point.

* Dilfer is prescient and brilliant because he predicted that the Broncos could have early success. He&#8217s sticking to his story that it will eventually disntegrate.

The silly idea that Tebow is a finished product and that &#8220these dimensions&#8221 will continue without change inherently pervades the article.

For whatever reason, it&#8217s really hard for some people to imagine that Tebow can improve. It&#8217s a very interesting case study in psychology.

Is anyone an ESPN insider? Dilfer wrote a column about Denver going &#8220all-in&#8221 with Tebow that started out promising in terms of his maybe acknowledging the possibility of future success for Denver with Tebow as QB. Anyone read the whole article? Did he hid his Tebow attacks behind a subscription wall?

I agree that it&#8217s typical and annoying being referred to as the &#8220Tebows&#8221 - but I am also equally annoyed by the notion that this team&#8217s turnaround is not a direct result of #15 being the starter.

He has made the whole team better. Outside of Bailey, the rest of the country hasn&#8217t heard of anyone else on the team (yes, including Von&#8230for now).

I also Don&#8217t understand why an NFL fan should think &#8216long term&#8217. It&#8217s a violent game, and career ending injuries can happen on any snap of the ball.

We are winning now. We are relevant now. People all over the country want to watch Denver. We will likely win some more games and have a shot at the playoffs&#8230this year. To hell with the future. Too many uptights, fretting about what the broncos will look like in 2014, are missing a fun & unprecedented string of games.

this is why people should stop hating tebow for the overexposure of tebow. msm is so f*cking annoying. i think the thing that got me the most was the first question to vmiller after the jets game was about tebow. why ask superman after he saves the earth what he thinks about aquaman&#8217s watercress and kelp sandwiches? i was insulted for vmiller, although he&#8217s handled it graciously.

if it&#8217s any consolation, this is not unique to tebow. it&#8217s the survival mechanism of our msm these days: latch onto memes and ride them into the ground, then hop onto a new one. rinse, repeat at a frenzied pace and maximum volume.

The media sucks. Especially where they are just fanning the flames to stoke controversy, likely so that they get more eyeballs if Tebow ever goes down in flames, or if his teammates finally flip out due to his excessive coverage and start badmouthing him. It&#8217s all so poisonous, but who cares about consequences if it gets a website a little more traffic, right?

Fortunately we have IAOFM so that we can devote our attention to a site that actually deserves it.
