Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli has been under intense scrutiny from fans and local media, but has been staunchly supported by owner Clark Hunt, who despite the turmoil recently offered Pioli a two-year extension, according to a league source.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have Bill Belichick thrust upon them.

Our advice to Scott Pioli: sign the extension. The less strenuous the division is for the Broncos, the better.

And now we're hearing that no extension was offered. Several theories abound, including one that this rumor was floated by Pioli's detractors to rile up the KC fans who despise his ineptitude and arrogance.

I agree with you, Ivan. Had McDaniels been working with a fairly strong GM - the results would have been IMO quite different. He ended up doing way too much with his effectiveness decreasing as a result.

I am looking forward to analyzing the Seahawks - NE game. I suspect that the Seattle defense is pretty solid and were able to effectively deal with their hurry up offense.

I forgot that I planned to comment on Pioli's extension. Keep it up KC. Dump guys like Orton who will help your team and keep guys that help your team in your dreams.

Ivan, say as little to me as you please. I won't consider it a loss in any way. To people who are capable of discussing things rationally, I would say McDaniels falls into that large category of coaches who are fine as coordinators - especially when they're in charge of units led by Hall of Famers and All Pros - but embody the Peter Principle when they are in charge of the whole show.

I'm with you, Ivan. McDaniels absolutely stunk as a HC/GM, but he proved it before and has been proving it since that he kicks butt as an OC. Belichick rehired him; that says a lot to me . . .

Ivan, the only ability McDaniels has is to ride the coattail of Belichick and attract praise from the analytical self proclaimed genius football critic. He's proven his inability both here and in St. Louis.

I hope the Chargers hire McDaniels.

I don't.
McDaniels has abilities that may never be recognized by Bronco fans, but has and will continue to bite the Broncos in the future (f0r those who do not acknowledge the hand of McD in the NE offence that dismantled the Broncos last weekend, I've nothing to say to you). The less the better. For now, leave him in NE and deal with it as seldom as possible.
