@John Tomasik, I am not much of a stat guy. All I know is that New England put up 40+ points both time we played them. In the SB the giants held them to 17 points and won.

Regarding Von Miller, not sure what your point is as Von Miller was acquired in 2011 and I am talking about what the Broncos has done so far in 2012. As far as I know PM doesn't play defense.

If you look at the statistics, the Patsies, Giants, Packers, and Ain'ts all have mediocre (at best) defenses.

Second, if you don't see the addition of Von Miller as addressing needs in the front 7, go tell the NFL to get back the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award they gave him.

I'm not so sure that's true anymore, with all the rules changes that favor offenses in recent years. The last time a defensively dominant team with a suspect offense won was 2003. Since then several teams with dominant offenses and vulnerable defenses have won - particularly when the defense can pressure the QB and is built to play well with the lead (just for example, the Saints, the Packers, and the Colts). It's a high-risk, high-reward strategy, as the Colts found out a couple of years ago. But on the other hand, they did come pretty darn close to winning that game. I think there's still work to be done on the D, but we're not that far from seeing a defense that can play effective complementary football to a productive, Peyton Manning-led offense.

Broncos Rise Fall 2012? There's been too many rise and fall seasons since 1998. 7-4 isn't so great if it's followed by 1-4. Hopefully this year is all rise and no fall.

While I admit to being a a Broncos fan that enjoyed the Tim Tebow era I am concerned that (in my opinion) the Broncos have not done much of anything to address their needs among the front seven.

As someone much smarter than me once said, offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships.
