BTW, the Broncos have 17 other FAs, not including tagged K Prater. DT Brodrick Bunkley only one Broncos trying to tie up before Tuesday.

If true, this means Denver is willing to let LB Wesley Woodyard, RB Eddie Royal, DT Marcus Thomas, and LB Mario Haggan test the market.

FURTHER COMMENT -- Woodyard is a priority re-signing but it's very difficult to determine his price range given his original draft status as a FA. Both the Broncos and Woodyard would like to see him remain here -- IMO -- but it's going to take an 'actual' offer from some other team to set the benchmark. It takes a real offer to start good faith negotiations between his agent and the Broncos. Neither side should/would want to negotiate in earnest until another team 'ponies up' and presents a credible alternative offer. Both sides would be merely guessing until that point. Bunkley's case is different because he holds leverage over the Broncos,

Most FAs may not need to be re-signed prior to the signing period because we can't know what a realistic salary demand will be until there's competition for their services. This isn't true far all players, as the Bunkley and Prater exceptions demonstrate, but the salary negotiation process is simplified once there's a concrete offer from another team on the table. Moreover, the agent's job is to discover the player's market value, even when the player's desire is to remain a Bronco. The salary negotiation process may stalled for many players because there's no guideline offer to judge cost-effectiveness, and this applies to both sides.
