Manning’s near-perfect night puts pressure on receivers
Manning was 32-of-37 passing last night, an 86.5 percent completion rate that was a career-high for him.
The above bit of trivia requires a qualifier - it's the highest completion percentage Manning's had in games where his team was actually trying to win. In the Colts' 2007 and 2008 season finales (both against the Titans), Manning was pulled for backup Jim Sorgi after going 14-for-16 (87.5%) and 7-for-7 (100%), respectively.
But back to last night - what's really crazy is that of Peyton's five incompletions, four were marked down by PFF as dropped passes (one each by Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Virgil Green, and Knowshon Moreno). The only incompletion put on Manning was one where Julius Thomas was the target.
