Barnwell: Lack of turnovers keys Denver’s success with Tebow

11 Things We Loved About Week 11

During Kyle Orton’s five starts, the team allowed 28 points per game; with Tebow at the helm, the defense has allowed just 21.4 points per game. It stands to reason that the Broncos would be allowing opposing teams fewer possessions with Tebow by virtue of running the ball so frequently, but that hasn’t been the case, since the Broncos allowed just more than 11 possessions per game with Orton at the helm, 12.5 possessions per game during Tebow’s first two starts in the traditional Broncos offense, and then 12 possessions per start in his three games running the option. Where Tebow’s helped the defense is by leading an offense that avoids turnovers.
