Maybe Doc and Ponderosa can say something about it, but I wonder if the looming lockout is making the players worry too much about getting injured, and if that fact - tensing up on impact instead of just taking the hit - is hurting them.
Although, perhaps there isn’t an inordinate amount of injuries, and I’m just imagining it… (but it certainly feels like everyone is banged up.)
Also, I read some of Eddie’s tweets. That guy is a winner, through and through.
It really is an odd year isn’t it? I mean the Broncos are just one of the teams that may be indicative of a larger trend. As has been mentioned here before, the threat of a lockout could be distracting to a lot of players, there have been what feels like a lot of bad injuries that have really hurt some good teams (see: Dallas, Colts, yes, the Broncos, and many more), off field distractions and coaching issues (see: Vikings for both). Very, very curious. It almost gives me some comfort to explain the Broncos problems in this greater context. Almost.
I’m surprised by the amount of good teams with losing records right now.

Raiders Cheerleaders are hot—I’m just sayin’
Even when the Broncos aren’t playing I forget I shouldn’t go to MHR gameday threads unless I want to become agitated.
Refs going to give the Jests another game?
Argh, Texans. :-( So close and yet so far.
Nice script, Dude. When’s the movie coming out? <img alt="grin" height="19" src="http://www.singernet.com/images/smileys/grin.gif" style="border:0;" width="19">
-The Raiders-Chiefs game is much as the World Series and NLCS were for me, I find it hard to stomach or root for either team so I may just skip watching altogether. The cruel, vindictive part of me might wish for several injuries to key players, but instead I’ll just be glad someone will lose and do something else. Btw, it is raining buckets here in the Bay Area so I imagine that game will be a sloppy slog.
Take that back doug, phonz on the int!
And Pho makes up for it by picking off yet another pass…
WOW Ndamukong Suh just attempted an extra point because Jason Hanson got hurt by Trevor Pryce. Bizarre, and he missed it. How can the punter not be the backup kicker?!
Saw Pho Smith get roasted on a 74-yd bomb to Braylon Edwards. Made me feel better at least momentarily…
FADE IN:
EXT. - FRONT LAWN - BYE WEEK SUNDAY
TJ Johnson, average Broncos fan, stands on his front lawn in a typical suburban neighborhood. He holds a rake and wears some flimsy work gloves.
Mountains of orange and yellow leaves surround him
TJ stares and stars at the leaves, until the face of a toothless Raiders fan appears inside one of the piles.
RAIDERS FANTJ, We’re gonna murder the Chiefs today, and all you be doin’ is those damn leaves! Hahahaa, you silly fool. We’ll swallow your soul!
TJ pauses and looks away. Then he takes the gloves off and rips off his shirt.
He eyes narrow. His lips purse.
He takes the rake and holds it like a baseball bat, his muscles taut against the crisp mid-day sun.
TJ JohnsonCome get some!
