Enjoy the games everyone, and Go (umm, play well and lose) Broncos!!!
I know i am late to comment but IT DID feel different today.. Coming Back from 17 down was impressive to me and giving up only 6 points in the second half especially with Champ leaving hurt was impressive. The Texans can’t defend but they can score…...
Mr Tebow THANKS, I have a little hope tonight! I think you are going to be special! Remember when we expected 4th quarter comebacks…....
Oh and Brian Cushings…....IN YOUR FACE…..and yours too Warren the Sapp
it’s been one helluva crummy season for Broncos but winning today was a nice brief ray of sunshine. Some spirit and hope for future.
Aww, did Peyton Hillis only get 35 yards today? I’m sure that was Josh McDaniels’ fault, too. <img alt="wink" height="19" src="http://www.singernet.com/images/smileys/wink.gif" style="border:0;" width="19">
az, the funny thing is that if everyone would have agreed we were in a rebuilding period, Tebow might have played. Since we seemed to need to win now, McD had to play Orton to give us “the best chance to win”.
I wonder how Tebow’s career would have been with McD as his coach. Seems like Ben is doing a nice job with him.
O & B, I think he’s kicking himself for not starting the kid earlier, could have saved his job, although I admit as a KO fan I would have been of those against the move.
No doubt, JB. I hate recently listening to Cowherd go on and on how Tebow will never be worth what McX gave up for him. I cant wait to hear what he has to say when he’s on next.
If tebow can play well against SD, there will absolutely be no choice but to trade Orton (or Quinn). It would be unfair to Orton to keep him here.
@ Orange and Blue
“Ozzie, are you sure you got fair value, there?”
I’d give ten dollars to know what McD thought about today.
San Diego just lost. And we remain tied with Cincinnati & Buffalo for 2 - 4 spots in the draft, with tiebreaks against both on SoS.
would it be possible to have the #1 selling jersey for the next 20 years or are there not enough people left to buy a tebow jersey?
Unbelievable. Tebow fever is going to sweep the nation like you have never seen.
I about burst a blood vessel trying not to yell at the end there, but the girl is still asleep and the Broncos pulled it out. Nice. Good game for TT. Who needs Luck?
Great game, guys. TT did a heck of a job in the second half especially, and Dawk used his head on the tipped pass.
One thing about Syd’ - he seems to manage to be around the ball at the right time. It’s something you can’t teach - great job by the little big man.
4th qtr comeback #1.
Sorry Kubes, I really hope we don’t see you unless you’re on the visitors side.
YAY! My jinx attempt worked! A Squid Pick!
I love me some Squid
And we win !
YEAH!!!!! Dawkins using his head.
Sigh, of course Rackers is gonna finish us off with yet another long field goal.
Oh ! well we’d better win then !
thanks SC & O&B !
Go our guys !
Jenna, our position is not affected since Cincy is winning.Let’s go D!!
@Jenna
We win today we retain our draft position because of a Dolts loss
Guess I’m repeating myself, like acid indigestion. <img alt="wink" height="19" src="http://www.singernet.com/images/smileys/wink.gif" style="border:0;" width="19"> Damn those page jumps.
Well it helps playing a D that is porous and not having to defend Andre Johnson, and this game ain’t over. Buuuut… Tebow is bringin’ it and this has at least been fun for once, whatever happens. Showing life at last!
Now I’m torn.
1st 4th quarter comeback for Tebow, or does our defense fold like they usually would so we can get a better draft pick
hmmmmmm
Dinner of crow happily being eaten at the OB27 household. Keep it up TT!
Forget Luck.
Ok, defense. Step it up.
By way different do you mean the offense has heart and passion in the 4th quarter?
Sorry Orton, nice knowin and rootin for ya.
KnoMo is injured again, Jenna, may be recurrence of same injury as last week.
Maybe we were too hard on McCoy? opened up playbook more in 2nd half at least.
Get Decker in there!
Maybe we were too hard on McCoy? Seems the playcalling has really opened up in 2nd half. Been a long time in coming, but it’s something.
Jenna, he hurt himself again—might be recurrence of same injury as last week.
Why dont we put Decker in these red zone sets? He’s a big target that can run across the back of the end zone.
1st Down ! Good for Tim nice run !
This team is wayyyy different with Tebow there. Just feels different. Side note - Houston pass D is really terrible.
Hang on to the ball, Buck!
Where the heck is KnoMo ?
Someone please tell me he’ll be good one day…
I have to say, Tebow is delivering a very good ball for his receivers to catch (except for the Gaffney screen) and run when it’s needed.
SD came back with a field goal - Cincy still up by 7.
Buckhalter again - good decision by TT, but great run by Buck. He’s huge today
Doc, if those two teams lose today and the Broncos pull off a comeback win, as crummy as this season has been that will at least make today enjoyable in a standalone way.
Hey! If Cincy wins today, we can win today and not lose our #2 pick! Go Cincy!!!! Go Broncos!!!
My daughter crawled into my lap and fell asleep at the end of the third—NOW the Broncos give me something to cheer about and I’m limited to behaving like I’m at a golf match.
OB27, Peter “Freakin” King predicted it..
I am extremely torn between a first 4th qtr comeback for Tebow and barely losing to keep the #2 pick. ARGHHH!
San Diego gives up another TD to Cincy, down by 10. If they lose, they’re out of the playoffs coming into Denver next week. Colts are up by 8 over raiduhs, too.
Who was it that predicted TT would throw for 300 today? They are probably going to be right.
Time for the Broncos to pull their best impersonation of the Texans: Overcome a huge deficit only to lose by a field goal.
Want that high draft pick, what can I say
Heck of a game for Buckhalter. Nice job, guys! down only by 6 - defense needs to hold.
Whoa. Great play fake by TT and great run by Buck. I wonder if Buck was hurt earlier in the year.
Wow, where has this Buckhalter been all season? He was dinged up I know, but looked terrible til last couple of games.
Wow, that was the best playcall of the year. TD Buck. Seriously, Buck is playing nice. Too bad he won’t be on the team next yr.
Totally, OB. Erratic is a good word to use. I know Al Wilson is an unfair standard, but that’s what I want in a LB. Smart, intense, vocal, and a great playmaker. I think DJ is a good compliment to a guy like that, but he is not that guy.
I’ve been watching the game, and imbibing along the way to make it more comfortable. The problem is, the play calling lacks so much in imagination, that I’ve been yelling at the TV so much that it has resulted in too much blood in my alcohol stream for my viewing pleasure.
Good one, SC.
It’s like people expect Tebow to throw the ball end over end.
now that is just weird, OB27.
So….what did we learn? Tebow can actually throw the ball, who would have thought? I mean I know he was drafted as a quarterback, played quarterback in college and high school, but isn’t he a tight end?
Count me as not a DJ fan, OB27. He’s been an erratic LB since he got here. Hard for him to be the leader we need him to be and play that way.
Beurlein is annoying today.
I’m not liking Beuerlein today. He’s annoying.
@ DCJ
Yeah, Woodyard hasn’t looked good, but i was referring to DJ. Just have not been a fan for much of this season. He seems to get easily caught up in traffic and blow too many assignments for my taste. I would like to trade him to a 4-3 team in need of a Will. Maybe a fourth or fifth. Just me though. I know a lot of folks like DJ.
Er, Buckhalter that is. KnoMo still out of the game (just like last week, injured before halftime, sigh). Yeah Criqui sounds really senile today.
Seeing Knowshon knock Cushing for a loop there almost made watching this game worthwhile by itself.
Buckhalter has looked better today than at any other time this yr.
Also, Criqui is not ID’ing players to well today.
Yes, not only do we share a screen name but also a brain apparently.
Yeah OB/OB27, I’m starting to hate opposing kickers. It’s especially like rubbing salt in our wounds. Sigh, what a cruel season.
A very astute observation, O&B brother:)
Not happy with Woodyard today. He’s not tackling and he isn’t trying too hard. He the one you’re referring to O&B?
What’s up with kickers having personal bests against us? Somehow that’s worse than an offensive skill player kicking our butts.
Kickers seem to be enjoying playing against us this yr.
Williams just jogged in pursuit after being chipped by a blocker. Cost us that first down a few plays ago. I like DJ less and less. Would love to trade him for a fourth or fifth. He doesn’t fit as a ILB or MLB. He’s a Will in a 4-3, and I don’t even want him if we went back to a 4-3. Would rather go with Woodyard or a draft pick for ILB/MLB.
BTW, I say if we have the 2nd pick we go with Bowers. If there is an ILB salary cap casualty we need to grab one.
Nice job by Cox and Thomas on that screen!
Very much enjoying this 2nd half performance. Tebow needs to work on his red zone throws but his 20 to 20 passes looks much better this half.
Jenna - lol! good point: What’s that old line? When there’s blood in the streets, buy stock?
Nice opening drive, though. Well done!
That deep ball from Tebow to Gaffney was NICEEEE. I can’t wait to hear Dude break that play down.
Honestly we should skip drafting Luck and trade the pick if he is still available. Buy low sell high.
We need a defense.
Look at the Bears. Cutler isn’t great, just competent.
Yeah he did just a little more to shut me up,
Doc - if Luck declares and Is available, I’d trade the pick. Tebow is showing enough to keep the QB position from being the problem. The linebacker core is where I they need to pay attention, followed by the D-line. Since the Broncos <sarcasm> only have six picks </sarcasm> they’d be able to get a better yield trading down. And I finished typing that during the Tebow to Gaffney toss. Tebow is making a believer of me, slowly but surely…
Ask and ye shall (or Gaffney shall) receive! Finally!
Whoa nice play ! 47 yards well done Mr. Gaffney !
We have to at least consider Luck. I got reamed at MHR yesterday for suggesting we would have to pass judgement on Tebow either way if presented with the choice of drafting Luck. It’s an absolute shame that we will have three games worth of tape on TT, but it will have to be enough to say he is either the future or Luck is the better option. The alternative would be to not consider Luck at all just to give Tebow more time. If the new regime has significant doubts about TT, they can’t just take Luck off our board. Right now, I don’t know about TT. He looks worse this week, and worry that his skills are less effective at this level. Hopefully, he continues to prove me and others wrong. I will reserve judgement until after next week, but I am a believer in the draft school of thought that you can’t pass on a franchise QB if you need one.
@ Doc
I don’t know what to think. Buy stocks in Coors Brewing Co. maybe ?
Doc, if Carolina has the 1st pick they will take Luck, I have no doubt. I am not convinced they think Claussen is the answer, but yeah, we don’t know yet if TT is either. That said, since Denver has so many glaring needs esp on defense, I’d rather them—if they get 1st pick—trade that for an extra 1st or 2nd rounder, and/or player, still have a high pick to use on defense, and go with what they have. Guess it will greatly depend on new coach and GM of course. I do like Luck a lot but I really think their problems lie elsewhere.
@DocIf we go after Luck then we should trade Orton, Quinn and Tebow. Clean house at the QB position and build an entire offense around what Luck can do.
The way I see it however is that Tebow is going through his growing pains right now, and there are many of them, but build an offense around him and I think you will have something great. Right now he seems like the only person who wants to play on the field.
I say trade back to around 10-12, and pick up a bounty of draft picks, and truly build the defense through the draft. Maneuver to try to get 5-6 picks in the first 3 rounds.
You know, playcalling like this isn’t doing anyone any favors. It makes the current playcallers look like duds, hurts the ability of the next regime to evaluate Tebow, prevents Tebow from spreading his wings, and now hurts our abilityto come back from 17 points. Hopefully we see some changes in the second half.
DCJ, no argument - they’re as flat as you get. when I said, “Iâm guessing that Mike McCoy isnât auditioning for signal caller” my point was about the same as yours - he’s not trying to accomplish much, and neither are many of the players. Sad to watch.
I’m hearing it more lately - Denver should grab Luck instead of keeping to TT. Any thoughts? Carolina might not take Luck if they decide that Clausen is going to work out. I’m solidly on the side of grabbing the best defensive monster in the draft (and grabbing some others, too), but I’m OK listening to other perspectives - thoughts, anyone?
I’m having a hard time finding anyone that wants to play today. I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone like Marty S. come in here to light a fire under these guys. Seriously. I’d be happy with an 8-8 season right now.
Well you’d think McCoy would be auditioning for something at least, if not the Bronco job. And I understand a playcaller is hamstrung a bit by having a rookie QB in there, but the calling is really unimpressive and predictable. I agree the offense has some great young players to build off of. I’m not worried about the talent they have on that side of the ball. They need better coaching on offense and patience as the young guys develop, while they simply need more good fundamentally sound players on defense.
So….what did we learn?
McCoy is not even a decent play caller.Tebow is in fact human and makes mistakes.Denver’s efence is as good as it ever was.
Even better—they’re content to let the clock run down and go in trailing by 17. What a waste.
Doc - I’m not any of these guys are auditioning for anything. Everyone and everything looks horribly flat and uninspired. I guess we’re all just going through the motions now.
Agreed, ud. Denver isn’t doing much of a job on offense, but there are some players to build off of on D. Space, that one didn’t look like a bubble screen where Gaff would have come back to Tebow, but your point is very well taken - short yardage, short yardage, screen on long yardage. I’m guessing that Mike McCoy isn’t auditioning for signal caller on offense next year. Mixing up the plays and keeping Houston on their heels isn’t part of things - and Houston’s pass D is ranked 30th in the league. I had hoped that TT would have a chance to throw more against these guys.
I love Veikune’s really long hair.
Wasn’t there supposed to be a rule about spearing defenseless receivers? Or does that not apply to Bronco receivers?
Great playcalling:Bubble Screen, run, run, run, run, run, Bubble screen, bubble screen, bubble screen
Where is the leading with helmet?!!! Gaff got rocked.
Yeah, TJ. It reminds me of Spurrier’s offense, which assigns the QB a protection responsibility. Lots of wishful thinking on calls like that.
Doc, and Mays, too, when he’s back. They miss his toughness out there. They’ll have a better defense next year, I have no doubt. But it’s been putrid to watch this year and the end of last. I miss the Orange Crush.
Need to put up some points before the half. Big series for Tebow.
Agree he is looking slow taking the snaps, TJ. I saw that a lot in preseason, but not last week. Esp with Houston blitzing like they are, we need some adjustments.
OB, I do. It’s almost impossible to get to on those plays. The angle of the defender simply pulls them right into the play.
Bannan and Hunter look like keepers, though
You’re right, TJ. He’s also feeling the rush - separate issue. Without his footspeed, he’d be toast.
Affirmative on Cushing, but he has no idea how it happened. He has “naturally high Testosterone” levels.
JT: Yes, he was suspended for steroids, or if you believe him it was because he might have had cancer.
Man, the Texans are just blitzing like crazy!
