Tracy Porter really wanted to wear No. 24 for the Oakland Raiders

Tracy Porter wanted to wear No. 24 for the Oakland Raiders. So did Charles Woodson.

As one might expect, Woodson won out, despite the fact that Porter already had the number before Woodson's signing earlier this year.

Porter was less than enthusiastic;with with the result.  That's when he went to Twitter, of course:

Well you Raiders fans...your guy has 24. It was TAKEN from me and given to him. #congrats.....too funny how this biz "works"

After getting a ton of crap from fans on Twitter, Porter did the smart thing and gave himself an out:

Not mad at's just the principle and the way it was handled.....said my piece, now back to football.

Not sure why Porter was so attached to the No. 24, but one thing is clear: the Raiders wanted to make Woodson happy.  It's too bad it came at Porter's expense, although taking the issue to Twitter only hurt Porter--in the eyes of fans and in the eyes of the organization.  It makes him look like he's bitching about nothing.

The good news for Broncos fans is that it doesn't matter what number is on the back of Woodson's jersey.  Peyton Manning will torch him just the same.
