The Daily Lard 9-11-11

Good Morning, Broncos fans - here we are, the first Sunday of regular-season football in 2011! Enjoy the games - of course we'll have an open thread for you to discuss the action, and TJ has a stellar analysis of the Raiders as the Broncos prepare to face them tomorrow.

As we commemorate the ten-year anniversary of 9/11, our thoughts here at IAOFM go out to all who suffered a loss on that day, and to all who have served.

Broncos

Trimmings

Minnesota gave Adrian Peterson $36M in guarantees as part of a seven-year deal, while Pittsburgh extended Troy Polamalu through 2014 with a mere $10.55M in guarantees. Plus, the Cowboys have give Jason Witten $19M in guarantees as part of a five-year extension.

Daniel Snyder has dropped his lawsuit against the Washington City Paper, but he is still a douchebag.

Sam Mellinger doesn't foresee good things for the Chiefs this year, while Kevin Acee wonders if the Chargers can finally win some hardware.

In his Sunday column, Dan Pompei says David Garrard would like to land with a team that has a murky starting QB picture. Plus, he hears that several teams were in on Brandon Meriweather following his release by the Pats.

PFW's latest AFC and NFC Whispers. Really good scoop there - they're hearing Denver wants to take the ball away from opponents this year. Somehow they forgot to mention that Kyle Orton and Knowshon Moreno are in the best shape of their entire lives, and that the team prefers the atmosphere under John Fox to that of Josh McDaniels. Oh...and the coaches have a revolutionary new way of divvying up practice time that is sure to result in more wins - no doubt!

Dave Anderson on Rex and Rob Ryan, who face off tonight at the Meadowlands.

John Clayton answers emails and asks one guy to just give John Fox a chance.
