6:09pm ET - The Broncos have announced that WR D'Andre Goodwin, OT Adam Grant, RB Jeremiah Johnson, S Kyle McCarthy, WR Eron Riley and FB Austin Sylvester will join Beal and Weber on the practice squad. Earlier reports had suggested that McCarthy was ineligible for the PS, but obviously those were incorrect.
5:34pm ET - Denver has signed former ZOMG Patriots CB Jonathan Wilhite, a fourth-year player whom New England originally selected 129th overall in the 2008 Draft (4th round). What are they trying to do, become the Patriots West?!?! In 39 career games (13 starts), Wilhite has three INTs, nine passes defensed and 93 tackles. New England had waived Wilhite last Monday.

Earlier entries:
7:35pm ET - You know what's funny? All of the writers who cover the Broncos regularly have been going out of their way to note the team's openness and press-friendliness under Johns Elway and Fox, and also using those opportunities to take little potshots at Mike Shanahan and Josh McDaniels for their secretive ways. Recently, the team has said they'd be aggressive in free agency and active on today's waiver wire - and we've seen countless articles repeating those very messages. In both instances, big nothings. Now, the FO doesn't owe us fans anything in terms of forthrightness - but one has to wonder how these reporters are feeling right about now...
7:16pm ET - Obviously he may have heard this directly from the FO, but I'm a bit puzzled by Klis' notion that the Broncos didn't want to inherit any existing contracts via the waiver process. Most young players (ie. those still on their rookie deals) make the minimum salary for their experience level each year, and signing bonuses have already been paid out. So unless players have easily attained incentives or unusual bonuses tied into their contracts, it doesn't make much sense.
7:04pm ET - Denver apparently did not place any waiver claims today, although Mike Klis figures they will sign a player or two outright in the coming days.
5:38pm ET - That didn't take long. In order to make room for Wilhite, the Broncos have waived S Darcel McBath, the second of their three 2009 second-rounders. All three (Alphonso Smith, Richard Quinn) are now gone, and only Knowshon Moreno, Robert Ayers and David Bruton remain of the team's ten selections from that year. McBath had played in only 20 games during his two seasons with Denver, accumulating 43 tackles, four passes defensed and two picks.
5:28pm ET - Seattle has claimed K Steven Hauschka off waivers from the Broncos to replace Jeff Reed, who was cut along with DT Junior Siavii
5:12pm ET - According to Aaron Wilson and Jeff Legwold, the Broncos have also signed DE Jeremy Beal to their PS. Beal, who had impressed in Denver's preseason finale on Thursday in Arizona, was the only 2011 draftee (7th-rounder, #247 overall) to not make the 53-man roster.
5:08pm ET - Just to review the PS eligibility rules:
- Players generally cannot spend more than two seasons on a PS, although there are exceptions
- Must not have accrued any seasons of NFL experience (6+ games on 53-man roster or IR)
- A free agent is PS eligible if during his accrued season(s) he was on an active roster for fewer than nine regular-season games
2:18pm ET - According to the agent for QB Adam Weber, the Broncos have signed the undrafted rookie to their practice squad a day after waiving him. Of course, we'll have all of the team's roster moves here as they happen, plus an updated roster. (Thanks, underdog!)
Notable cuts: Seahawks DT Junior Siavii
