It was great to see the NFL commissioner empathize with fans yesterday.

I was moved to tears.

Wait, that was just some lingering Denver Nuggets regret and the dry Colorado air.

Oh well, I thought I'd honor the commish--and his pay cut--Fat Man style.

I’m glad we had this talk. Now, vaya con Dios, Brah.

Goodell showed some class last night, so props to him for that. I&#8217m actually pretty surprised by how he, personally, has handled the lockout, never really attacking anyone, one of the rookies he&#8217s closest to is Von Miller, and he&#8217s one of the players against he NFL in the lawsuit.

When Goodell was the Assistant Commissioner, he was one to use terms like &#8216monetize&#8217 and &#8216commoditize&#8217 when referring to the league&#8217s actions. He&#8217s there to maximize the league&#8217s retained revenues as well as to keep order, but in that order. I don&#8217t begrudge it to him and I wouldn&#8217t want the job. I think that he&#8217s done well in general in keeping the public impressions of him positive. Hopefully, he&#8217s also working with the owners to create viable compromises.

Bradley, totally agree.

I think the reality is that Goodell is just being a good soldier and playing the company line. I get the feeling, listening to his interview with Rich Eisen yesterday, that he&#8217s genuinel frustrated. Definitely with the players, but it sounded like there was some frustration on his part with the owners too.

I&#8217m sure he doesn&#8217t want this to be his legacy.

I liked Goodell&#8217s interaction with the newest Bronco - great hug and smile. Says a lot, especially since Miller is a named Plaintiff in the case against the NFL. Gives me a little hope that the situation isn&#8217t totally hopeless.

I was impressed with the calm that the commish showed last night. By about the sixth pick I would have been swearing at the crowd like a drunken sailor. Of course it wouldn&#8217t be a problem if he could just get the owners to be better at profit sharing.
