Sit down for this one, folks. According to Dianna Marie Russini, Mike Shanahan, two-time SB-winning head coach, is a candidate to reprise his role as offensive coordinator for the 49ers.
Did a second year out of the NFL (2009) provide Shanny with an enormous dose of humility? I want to suggest that Russini has a typo in there, but it reads pretty clearly:
Kyle Shanahan may have turned down the SF OC interview for great reason. Told his father Mike Shanahan is still in play for the job. #49ers— Dianna Marie Russini (@NBCdianna) January 16, 2015
There isn't another way to read that, is there?
Mike Shanahan, possible offensive coordinator, in 2015?
Why would Jim Tomsula even consider such a thing? Would you want a two-time SB winning coach peering over your shoulder for your first NFL head gig? No, thanks.
