Per NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini, Raiders owner Mark Davis wants to hire Jack Del Rio as his next head coach, and he has the blessing of one John Madden. Any delay in hiring Del Rio is apparently due to GM Reggie McKenzie's preference to remove Tony Sparano's interim tag.
According to Russini, the Oakland head gig would be the dream job for Del Rio, who grew up in the Bay Area, and whose parents are longtime Raiders season ticket holders. JDR met with Oakland officials on Tuesday for a second interview.
During his Tuesday presser, John Elway stated that Del Rio would be a candidate for the Denver opening, but no interview has been scheduled.
