While the rest of the league's new head coaches continue to fill out their coaching staffs, the Broncos and Gary Kubiak would still like to hire Cincy secondary coach Vance Joseph to run their defense.
Per Jeff Legwold, the Bengals are only willing to let Joseph out of their contract if they have a suitable replacement in waiting, and the Broncos are apparently hoping that former Giants DC Perry Fewell might be that guy.
It's kind of a weird story, as there are no other reports out of Cincy suggesting the team is interested in hiring Fewell, who recently interviewed with the Niners about coaching their secondary. Then again, it's not the sort of information the Bengals would figure to put out there, especially if nothing comes of it. As far as we can tell, there are no previous ties between Fewell and Cincy head coach Marvin Lewis or DC Paul Guenther.
The Giants fired Fewell three weeks ago; he interviewed for the Denver head gig four years ago.
