Report: Beadles to Jags

According to Cecil Lammey, the Jaguars have in fact landed Zane Beadles, to the tune of $30M over five seasons and $13M in guarantees.

Jeff Legwold says Denver will indeed try to move Orlando Franklin inside to left guard and shift Chris Clark over to right tackle.

So, one thing to hope for out of this is that Chris Clark is a better *pass blocker* on the right side than Orlando Franklin. If memory serves, it was mostly the right side of the line that had problems in the Super Bowl. This is the first move I've seen them make that could help to remedy the most glaring weakness from that game.

I think they may view Painter as that guy long term. I agree that they're going to need to add one lineman to replace Zane and another to replace Justice, hopefully.

why not go get a better lineman to replace Beadles like they did last year replacing Kuper? Would be kinda nice to have Clark as an insurance policy at backup tackle, rather than entrenched as a starter. He wasn't horrible at LT last season, but he wasn't exactly stellar either. PM can make both receivers and OL seem better than they are.

That's why they're the Jags. Zane is a outstanding young man with a huge heart and he will be greatly missed in the community. I'm very happy to see him secure his future and I hope he has a terrific season in 2014.

What is the obsession with moving Franklin to guard? I have never understood it. And while I may sound whiny I'm not being rhetorical if someone has a good reason why this is a smart move, I'm all ears.

Fare thee well, Zane. Good guy, fun to root for, great run blocker. Avg to below avg (imho) pass blocker, and a lot of money for what he is as it turns out. Still, I liked the dude, wish him well. Be interesting to see what Broncos do but presumably will draft a guard while still playing around with moving Franklin inside and Clark to RT (or not, who knows. But a guard will be drafted.)
