Sports producer Steve Silva of Boston.com is reporting that Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez will be arrested in connection with the execution-style murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Sports Illustrated is reporting the same, while the Boston Globe says no arrest is imminent.
Lloyd's body was found Monday with a gunshot wound to the back of the head in an industrial park within a mile of Hernandez's MA residence. The 27-year-old Lloyd had reportedly been dating the sister of Hernandez's baby mama.
From Fox 25 Boston:
A law enforcement official tells FOX 25 Hernandez appears to be directly tied to the homicide which is why authorities executed a search warrant at his home Tuesday night. According to the same source, Hernandez, Lloyd, and two other men were at a bar in Boston the night of the homicide, and at some point, the four men left together in a car driven by Hernandez which was confirmed by a text Lloyd sent another friend, the source says.
It is unclear where the car went or what happened during the ride, but according to the source only three men returned to Hernandez's home at the end of the night and Lloyd was not one of them.
The source also says forensic evidence places a vehicle driven by Hernandez at one of the crime scenes in this case.
Not long after Silva's tweet, Boston's Sky 5 provided live footage of one of their helicopters trailing Hernandez in his Audi SUV.
Things got even more ridiculous when Hernandez left the stadium, stopped for gas, and was swarmed by reporters who'd been following him in their own vehicles. His next stop following the fill-up was apparently his lawyer's office.
According to ABC News, Hernandez is alleged to have intentionally destroyed his cellphone and the video surveillance system in his home. Additionally, a team of house cleaners was reportedly hired to "scrub" Hernandez's home on Monday.
ABC News also reports that Hernandez and the victim partied together at a Boston nightclub on Friday night.
It was reported on Thursday night that neighbors of Hernandez's heard gunshots between 3am and 3:30am on Monday morning, and there's apparently video evidence of Hernandez and two others walking into his house only minutes later.
According to Fox 25, Hernandez was allegedly seen at Lloyd's home an hour prior to that.
Hernandez is also being sued in Florida by an acquaintance who alleges that Hernandez shot him. However, the plaintiff has not cooperated with the Palm Beach Sheriff's office, so that case currently remains closed.
It is also being reported that the Florida alum was involved in a nightclub incident in Providence, RI in May, in which a man, not thought to be Hernandez, discarded a loaded gun.
