Hours in advance of the NFL's deadline, the Broncos have gotten down to the 75-man roster limit by placing safety Quinton Carter on irrevocable injured reserve and center J.D. Walton on the regular-season PUP list.
Carter has struggled with health problems since late in the 2011 season, when he injured his left knee against the Patriots. He was placed on IR after just three games in 2012.
As Andrew Mason sees it, Carter's injury opens the door a bit wider for veteran corner/safety Quentin Jammer to stick around.
Walton, who had a second surgery on his left ankle in June, will be ineligible to practice until after Denver's Week 6 game against Jacksonville. According to Mason, the Broncos would be able to delay activating their fourth-year center as late as Week 15.
Denver closes out its preseason with a home game versus Arizona on Thursday night, with final cuts down to 53 due by Saturday at 6pm ET.
