Enjoy the game, and Go Broncos!
Here are a few Photoshops of the Broncos' SI cover.
Gonna need a tattoo count before I decide
Well I got in too late to see the game; only saw the stats. It looks like this Manning character is only the third best QB on the roster. Do you think he's make the final 53?
OH I thought bradley looked horrible, same problem we always had, they picked on him with passes while he was in.
This middle linebacker for runs job is extinct in todays NFL
Our best blocking seemed to happen when we had both Virgil and J. Thomas in there (include Lilja to that).
Tevathan looked better than Bradley IMO..
The OLine looked rough, even first team. I'm gonna give them this one as they've been moving all over the place in the last week or two. It was nice to see Lilja in, and he definitely shored some things up, I'd like to continue to see him come on and push ManRam.
Julius Thomas played well running routes I am not qualified to grade his blocking, but the whole Oline looked like crap while he was in
I think Ihenacho and CJ Anderson are the breakouts of this game. If Anderson plays like this the rest of the Pre-season, he is going to be taking reps with the first team offense.
Prater split the uprights on that attempt from that vaunted 40-50 range.
Notes at first glance (with my limited football knowledge)
The guys whose name we have been hearing stood out, did stand outIhenacho and J. Thomas both consistently got playing time they earned and they did well with it
Backup O line was ridiculously bad
CJ Anderson may have just made the team, and maybe its too soon, but he should be getting some looks at the first D to see if this is a fluke
Whatever audible is Elway Elway Elway, scrap that play forever
Osweiller I am left unsure of, the Oline was that bad, had one nice drive end on a 4th down run, would have been nice to test Oz here
We need to get our starting O-line back
There is a reason we have not been hearing the name Travathan like last year, I did see him make a play, but saw him a few times appear to me out of position
Please add your observations...
He was already ahead of Ball on the depth chart. Knowshon is the guy in his sights.
I think with the way CJ had been running it was a good play call. I don't think I saw him go down on first contact all night, so picking up inches should have been butter.
I just came here to say exactly this.
C-ya Lance Ball. CJ just took your job.
Dixon is a nice player for SF.
I think the line showed marked overall improvement as soon as Lilja entered the game. Still not good, but not the horror show it was.
Hester better start making some plays.
Guessing we will hear about that play call on IAOFM tomorrow, he did go fo it like we clamor for here (although doubtful come regular season in the same situation), yet he called a conservative run against an obvious run D
was he too conservative or too risky, or just right... we could be up by 3 but id be pissed if he didnt go for it
and that first down of 1 yard might be the play of the year
3rd straight run by Anderson they have to blow it dead with 7 49ers on his back
Won't survive on the PS Squad. Will be pinched has to make the 53
SF has the best run blocking line in football by a wide margin. They dominate everyone.
CJ Anderson is going to make the team.
That was the dumbest play of the season so far. Might hold the title for a few weeks.
Also looking like Holliday got a little cocky here
Holiday just got smashed. Don't know what he was thinking
Brock staying poised with virtually no protection. I'm watching Lilja at center, he looks ok.
at least our backup QB is not turning it over. SF 2nd and 3rd string QBs are terrible
After the first game of the preseason, I just hope Im not a fan of one of the teams having to explain "we dont show our real protections" or "preseason play doesn't correlate to regular season" or "its just the first game"
Id rather look good than like poo
I was disappointed that it was a 10 yard penalty that stopped SF, not our D-Line. We got GASHED right through the middle that whole drive. I am concerned that Big Al is correct about our interior D-Line.
this Oline play keeps up and we gonna have to rethink the whole preseason football > no football at all
I wouldn't say a giving up a field goal is "smoked".
That opening drive play calling was right out of the 4th quarter of the Baltimore game, though.
Darrien Gordon made some huge plays for us on special teams.
1st team O-Line could not protect, 1st team D got smoked. not a good start to the preseason.
We are winning, but look inferior tonight. Especially on offense. Oh well. It's only August.
He is straight ballin.
I always resented the fact that shannahan treated punt return like it was whoever was the extra WR or whatever, I get friggin excited every time Trindon touches the ball, it isn't if he will make someone miss, but how many will he make miss vs how many does he need to make miss
Yeah, it sounds like they're getting worked over pretty good.
Ihenacho not only looks like a clear cut starter, but could make some serious waves this season. TYJE.
backup Olines suck for both teams, its horrible, that was a three man rush that got Osweiller, and 2 of them were close
And anotha one!
Big hit. It would be great to see him step up this year. Bradley looks like a serviceable backup at the very least.
I don't think there's any doubt he's on the team at this point. He's been all over the place. I figure that leaves Adams, Jammer, and Q.Carter fighting for one spot.
Has that Irving up the gut?
Nothing I love more than scoring on defense. Nice.
He made a fast read a few plays before that and plugged an up the middle run for a 1 or 2 yard gain.
WTF, time to believe the hype +1 again
The real facts are probably 48+ of the players that wind up on the final 53 were known before they blew the whistle opening TC.
Unless some jumps up out of nowhere like Harris did a few years ago the only unknowns for those last few slots and PS are injuries and great play by some of them.
We know that unless some rookie comes to camp looking like Jarmarcus the Hut all of them will stick at least for a year to see if they are who they thought they were . After that all bets are off, We only had a couple starter spots to fill doom, Walton/Koppen, and Kuper but that was figured out about 20 minutes into the FA season..
Same goes for Knighton, he was going to be a starter or first rotation in, beyond that we did not have a MLB last year so to speak so not much to worry about there. .
DBs the only question was how long would Adams last. ( in some feebler minds Moore)
Pretty cool, I got the preseason live from nfl.com and you can choose either audio source, denver or san fran. I have always had the problem of only getting the home broadcast.
That said, our lbs looked like poo water in the beginning of that drive, you don't need your safeties having this many stats in the first quarter. MLB so far a a concern already, overreaction!
This NFL Network show is pretty cool. Glad I got to see Duke bomb that lineman on the outside run.
Yeah just keep great things in camp. Want to see him do it against new people though, also feel like he could get caught out a bit in play action
Duke looking good so far. He diagnosis run really fast and makes moves instantly when he does.
Stuck with just radio tonight. Really can't hope for more than a solid all-around effort with no injuries. Can't wait to see the replay tomorrow and get a look at how the team is progressing, particularly the young players.
It's funny because so many people bitch and moan about the preseason but I love it. These four games are such a huge opportunity for the guys at the back of the roster. It seems like there's usually a player or two to come completely out of nowhere and become a major contributor. The results might not mean anything once the regular season starts, but the way the roster comes together sure does.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the Duke performs, the Irving/Bradley competition against a proper running team and if McCray can do enough to hold the fort if Miller gets the suspenison.
Oh hell, now I see Manning out there, under center, yelling "OMAHA! OMAHA! SASQUATCH! Hurry Hurry....TAILS!"
Wouldn't surprise me to see the entire O-Line in front of Manning for the coin toss.
No injuries and am looking forward to seeing Sly, Brock, Ball, Ronnie, Duke and JT
Manning for one drive and then let's see what Oz and the kid have in them. This is glorified practice, I'd hate to see some young Niner get his hands on Peyton and try to make his mark.
The road to the Super Bowl (games-wise) starts in less than an hour.
