Enjoy the games, and Go Bills!
Except Decker makes the catch and then makes a second move to reach the ball across the goal line. At this point, he made a catch and then made a second move; which makes it a catch. Then he reaches it across the plain of the goal line which is a TD and the play is over. The ball coming out happens after the play has "ended".
I see your side. I understand the process of "completing the catch". This is a really tough play to call, the rules contain ambiguity.
Not live, but they showed it afterwards.
thanks... did they show the collapse on camera?
Collapsed at half-time walking off the field, taken to the hospital. Stayed conscious the whole time, but he was in pain, reportedly.
so i just turned on tv... what happened with Kubiak? I hear he was "taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons" what?
WFT?Kubes goes down?
Holy Christ !!Another sign of the Apocalypse !!Joe Mays got a sack.
How far have we come in so short a time.
If Case Keenum displays at least a modicum of ability at reading defenses, I´m thinking both Vick and his old back-up Schaub might be done as starters at the same time.
Congratulations to the Broncos and Jack Del Rio on their new relationship!
He's like the Oracle at Delphi - you can spin anything said for it to match up. I like DA, but going from Elway/Fox helping him to being HC of a perennial problem child team is rough. They claim to have agreed with him on a two year grace period to get the mess under control.
He'll be broke as a joke inside of five years.
Yeah, at least we got 14 points in the first three quarters last week.
You´re right, but a Peyton Manning-led offense isn´t subject to the same laws as everybody else (and most NFL personnel treat it as such), which is why I hope more people realize it´s generally true, no matter who the opponent is.
I thought Broncos @ San Diego last season had put that notion to rest for good.
You make a good point, Vick's career is done, for good.
7 for 7 has a certain poetic ring, until 18 goes for 18 that is (acceptable only against the Patriots or in the SB).
Coughed one up, too.
Glad to see that Foles did not break PFM's records for TD's in a game. That would be like having some graffiti artist spray over Michelangelo's stuff.
Exactly my thought.
Seattle´s win should once and for all put to rest the notion that you´re safe up by 21 with two quarters to go. At half-time, no matter what the score is, you can´t worry about the clock. Asking an out-of-synch offense to suddenly muster one more scoring possession so you can hang on to a win is a dicey, dicey proposition.
Was that Bess? A week late.
Imagine that, McGahee can't get a third and 1
The Seahawks are lucky to get out with a win.I hope they do make it to the Meadowlands and play the Broncos.I think we could do better than TB.
The Bucs are legitimately better than the Jags, so it´s understandable nobody expected Seattle to cover the same kind of spread the Broncos were tasked with. But at the same time, how much do you want to bet the media will be praising the ´Hawks´ mental toughness for the OT win while everybody focused on how unimpressive the Broncos´ win was, despite ending up ahead by 16 points?
I must say this makes the game with JAX more understandable.Even the top teams at home are not invincible.Unlike Alabama playing some small school, every NFL team is full of good players.
So, the 0 and 7 Bucs take the Seahawks into OT.Who'd of thunk it?
No way will those gutless refs call Seattle for blasting Glennon helmet to helmet right there.
Suspenseful and interesting. So far, the best game of the week.
OK.Now the game begins !!Can Glennon and TB score with less than two minutes?Or will the Seahawks suck it up?Unexpectedly great game !!
they need to raise the confidence of their new starting qb next year
Are the raiders trying to help Foles set a new record on purpose?
Today will be the highlight of their season (whether they win or lose, isn´t that depressing).
Holy Cow !!TB goes three and out for the first time all day late in the 4th?I thought TB specialized in going 3 and out.
Shouldn´t we be rooting for TB, based on the amount of fawning the media heads do over Seattle? And just so people stop considering our win against the Jags as a huge letdown? (plus the underdog effect?) But that would mean rooting for Schiano, so... Yours is true too, even though today he´s made good choices.
There's still plenty of time for Seattle to come back. Having their awful offenses exposed by terrible teams is not good for pretenders like Seattle and KC, even if their defenses keep winning the games for them, this won't do for playoffs.
Give Foles the Matt Flynn Treatment
If the Eagles keep running the score, Oakland players will revert to their undisciplined dirty ways and start banging some heads and kneecaps.
What is the Schiano effect? That your team has to try to win despite you?
Pass protection has improved for the Seahawks, so there´s a good chance they get the 4th quarter comeback. Don´t know if I´m happy about it (the Schiano Effect).
Steelers teasing us...
I am pretty sure when Dennis Allen said it was time to show what the Raiders can do, it wasn't this.
Nick Foles went to Halloween as Joe Kapp.
I don't know what the win probability chart looks like, but I give Tampa a 1% chance of hanging on to win this game.
Greg Schiano: "Why does everybody keep saying that?"
Seattle trails by 7 going into the 4th.Can TB hang on, or do the wheels come off now?
Oakland is getting pulverized by the Eagles. Chip Kelly running up the score right now, to the surprise of no one.
Just a hell of a player. I really like RG III, but there´s no doubt for me it´s going to be between Luck and Wilson for best QB to come out of last year´s class.
Here it comes...
And that is why Russell Wilson is a winner, no matter how this game ends !!
Sorry ass McCoy gets a td. Wishing someone would knock that douchebag out.
I almost always do the same, my exception being the rapist´s team. So on weeks like this one, either I root for a meteorite hitting the stadium, or I just pretend the day never happened (so there´s no score to acknowledge), which isn´t too much of a sacrifice when the football quality is as bad as it has been today.
Hoping the brownies can hang on too
Mike James is having the game of his life, practically neutralizing Seattle´s strengths on defense.
Havent watched them much. But I pull for whoever New England plays, so this is a little frustrating.
Tampa is making this look easy.I could not be more surprised.
There's a td
They had their time. But it is over now.
When have the Steelers not been pathetic this year? Serves them right.
Pretty sure Seattle will come back
Pittsburgh looks pathetic. Some horrid football today.
The Highway's looking good.
Which makes the internal harassment dished to their young players and tackles all the more baffling and contemptible.
It's good to see RG3 doing so well today, after how savagely beaten he was last week. He's a really special player, and I enjoy watching him.
Greg Schiano: "Hah! I knew you would say that. My way or the highway, motherfuckers."
Remember the year we had Tebow as QB?
If Decker had taken, say, six steps with the ball in hand before he dove for the pylon, and the ball came out when he hit the ground, would that still be counted as incomplete?
How important is an offensive line? Lose two tackles and see what happens... This also shows the problem with running QBs - how beat up they get.
To be fair if Miami fixes that offensive line they go from bad to playoff fodder.
That's easy !!He still is.
Greg Schiano: "Who's the fucking asshole now?"
Seattle´s defense got called early for DPIs, and now they´re completely toothless. It will be fascinating to see if Seattle can wake up in the second half. On another note, it puts the Broncos´ victory against the Jags in its rightful perspective. Winning when you´re such a huge overdog can be tricky (even more when the other team goes for your QB´s knees every time it can).
Legion of boom looking pretty pedestrian today!
Just kidding !!But I am amazed at TB's competence in this game. When do the wheels come off?
Head, meet desk. I can never get used to the fact Florida has 3 (bad) NFL teams. Let´s change my statement to "Bridgewater will stay in Florida instead of heading to Europe in 3 years". Thanks for the correction.
Excellent point. It looks like Wilson is running for his life every time he drops back.
Aren't Tampa and Jacksonville both in Florida?
LOLRaiders. Getting toasted on defense. By nick foles and riley cooper. Almost feeling sorry for DJ Hayden. Almost.
NFL teams can survive with a bad OL, but not atrocious mockeries of one. Seattle can still run (also because Lynch and Turbin are good at breaking tackles), but their passing game is inexistent right now despite Wilson´s superb ability to scramble (7 sacks last week, only 18 pass attempts).
I´d feel bad for Schiano (great call to go for the onside kick there), but he´s far too much of a bully for that. If the Bucs and Jaguars finish 0-16 this year, and the tie-breaker is unlikability, Bridgewater won´t end up in Florida (does anyone think Glennon is a franchise QB?).
Where did Seattle's offense go?14 points last week and zero so far this week against TB at home? How are these guys gonna meet us in the Meadowlands at this rate?
You know many of us disagree, because the ball crossed the goal-line plane. I can see what your case is, but then why don´t the referees consistently call it that way? If it was always called like that it would be one thing, but it´s not the case (see Lance Moore´s conversion in the 2009 SB).
Yep, that has to sting badly. Hopefully they'll still feel stung in a week.
I have seen countless times plays similar as these, and they almost always end up being called incompletions, with broadcasters underscoring that the WR needs to take 3 steps for it to be a catch. In this case, it was clearly 2 steps, so it definitely should have been an incompletion.
Still, it is good to know that the Chargers can still pull out a loss when they need one. First down at the one and they still lose.
Chargers lose. Raiders losing.
Not that I am worried about either of those teams mind you.
Down go the Chargers !!
Frazier is a very good DC who is atrocious (one of the worst in the NFL) with game-time decisions. As long as they don´t have a good QB, that kind of HC always spots a very bad record. But will the Vikes fire him? That team appears to have no compass, given their head-scratching handling of the trade deadline last week.
Oh well, if the Chargers and Raiders both lose this day won't be a total washout.
The Decker play was not a question of "football move" it was whether he completed the process of the catch as he went to the ground. He did not. Having seen the catches taken away from Megatron, I think this was a harsh but correct call. Lesson to Decker... hang on to the ball! (also stop whining for flags, even when warranted).
Hm, I just rewatched it again and still looks like ball is loose in his grip for less than 2 steps before it's knocked out. Maybe not so obvious they could've overturned though.
Yeah, this was the one the refs got wrong. Full speed that's understandable, but I thought it was a completed catch, down by contact, ball forced out by Chiefs safety.
it was a scoring play so review was automatic. Seemed to be the correct call to me.
Leslie Frazier should be fired tomorrow. I needed only 2 minutes of game time to determine this, when he failed to go for a 4th down conversion (best choice) or long fg (mediocre to bad choice) and punted to gain 27 yards of field position... Cowboys drive for td and win. As for the Bills/Chiefs, just as with the Cleveland game I saw, the Chiefs were badly outplayed by a 7th string QB and below .500 team, but won on fortuitous defense.
Wait, I just saw the fumble recovery TD highlight -- so they didn't challenge it? Or they did challenge and it was upheld? Absurd. He never had position of that ball. Ay caramba.
I will be embarrassed if we lose to the Chiefs. They are like a lucky version of the browns
And these paper tigers get a bye going into the Denver game. The frauds are going to need it.
I don't know why you'd say such a thing. I mean, separate from 7 dropped passes and all... :/
I have more respect for Oakland´s record this year than KC´s, FFS.
Such terrible, awful, receivers...
Exactly. Their green QB has had his receivers drop balls, run wrong routes, bat down passes intended for other receivers, cough the ball up for fumble recovery TDs, and short arm catches, and they were still in it most of the game.
What sort of Santeria goat sacrifice did the Chiefs perform this season?
SO BAD. It irritates me to no end to see KC keep winning games like this. Not a single offensive touchdown, and their defense got ran on all day long, yet they'll still win this. Frauds.
I was about to say that Buffalo's receivers suckitude is as responsible as KC's luck for this outcome.
This week's slate of games have set the sport back two decades.
Absolutely. Once the Broncos score their 3rd TD of the day, KC´s gameplan will be in shambles as long as the two things you point out in your first paragraph are respected. I want Denver to light up the scoreboard so bad.
Tuel has had his own issues this game, but damn, those receivers sure aren't helping him out at all.
Formula for beating the Chiefs:1) Good run defense2) Good offensive line work3) No turnovers
If Denver avoids shooting themselves on the foot on the turnover department and no offensive linemen get injured, it will be an easy 2-0 over Kansas this season.
Chiefs secondary looks better than it really is thanks to their pass rush (like Broncos last season was), they don't have a way to stop our wide receivers (no one in the league does). DT and Decker need to be more physical, tho.
Let´s see if Winter reverses the call by some miracle (miracle because he is not known for being a good referee. Pretty sure 30% of the league´s referees would reverse it).
Well, back in 2011, the Broncos proved that a lucky team could get to the playoffs and even win a playoff game. So, I hesitate to speak ill of being a lucky team. But, wow. Every break goes to KC.
Case in point: this catch.
Another lucky break
Dammit, that deep pass... if he'd held on.... That four leaf clover strikes again.
Seriously, how are we even supposed to know what is a catch and what isn´t? There is no consistency whatsoever from week-to-week in that situation.
Most turnovers this season for the Chiefs have been really lousy execution by opposing teams, also the statistical abhorrence on fumble recoveries.
Sounds like a plan to me. I think we match up well playing KC aggressively; a conservative game plan would play right into their strengths.
Want a summary of KC´s season so far? Jamaal Charles, a good defense, more luck than a four-leaf clover, and a curse on opponents´ QBs. I now instantly swear off everyone who ranks KC the best team in the league.
That Decker nonTD was total BS. A "football move" was made.
Bills starting out on their own 1. No problem, they got this guys. :/
Seriously guys, how many games are the Chiefs going to win solely because of turnovers? Keep thinking it's unsustainable, even with D being legitimately good, but it keeps happening. Playing against crap QBs helps, too, of course. But argh
Short answer: yes. Long answer: infuriatingly yes.
Another thing: that last defensive TD being ruled a valid fumble angers me greatly. Going by the Decker non-TD, it should have been an incompletion.
This is the first KC game I have seen this year. Are they always this lucky??
No kidding, can't wait for the Broncos to expose them.
Chiefs are the luckiest team in the history of the NFL.
One of the most atrocious throws of the year. KC´s record is smoke and mirrors.
This is the team the Broncos are supposed to be worried about? Them?
Tuel's looking very solid. That bomb was perfect and he's been managing the short and necessary stuff well. Bummer he sailed that into over the TE as the chiefs haven't moved the ball at all consistently in the first half.
Given his propensity for the dink and dunk game, short passes that they hope break into something bigger, Broncos should have a game plan for it. We have fast linebackers. Wonder if they'll basically dare Smith to go deep, with man coverage there and short routes (hopefully) jammed up. Nothing scary here, but you lose to them if you turn the ball over and miss tackles.
Smith is getting pressured consistently. Perhaps his low throws are linked to a case of the jitters. It bodes well for the Broncos.
It´s been clear since week 3 that the Bills wouldn´t be an easy game for KC, and were Manuel playing, I´d be comfortable with predicting a Bills win. Marrone really looks like a find to me, and the defense is solid.
If this doesn't say Alex Smith in a nutshell, nothing will: 9 of 10, for 57 yards. Also two sacks and a fumble.
I've smelled trap game all week, especially given Bills defense is solid and it's a road game. That said, it's still very early...
That offense wouldn´t strike fear in the hearts of hypochondriac mouses, and on the last series, the CBs looked strikingly slow. Keep it going, Marrone!
Buahahaha, Chiefs are down, looking bad vs Bills and their Tuel of a Fook!
....from Washington, that is
Go Redski...d'oh! Go Redsk....ummmm....go red shirt wearing guys!!!
