As early as today, the Raiders will name Jack Del Rio their next head coach, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The Bay Area native is said to consider this his dream job; his parents are longtime Raiders season ticket holders. He's Oakland's second straight coaching hire off John Fox's now former Denver staff, after Dennis Allen three years ago.
Del Rio coordinated Denver's defense for the past three seasons, leading it to efficiency rankings of #2 in 2012, #14 in 2013, and #1 in 2014, per AFA. During his season-ending presser, John Elway said JDR would be a candidate to succeed John Fox, but few believed it.
