In a pure formality, Mitch Unrein signed his $555K exclusive rights free agent tender today. The move was inevitable once Denver tendered him, because as a player with less than three accrued seasons, Unrein was not free to negotiate with any other teams.
Unrein could only have been a true free agent had Denver non-tendered him, and provided he makes the team, he'll be a restricted free agent next offseason.
Tony Carter was also tendered as an ERFA, but with a $715K salary. Carter hasn't yet signed his tender, and like Unrein, will be a restricted free agent next offseason.
