Uncle Rico, that&#8217s just silly. Maybe he&#8217ll make more money, maybe he doesn&#8217t want it to look like the only reason he got the job is because of friendship. Maybe he likes the system in CLeveland better. Maybe he just wants to get away from fans who make silly dogmatic statements.

I really like the way the press conference went. The way he spoke gave me a sense of comfort. He really made me believe &#8220This guy knows what he is doing.&#8221

The key thing to pay attention to in the coming days:

Who will the assistants and coordinators be?

Fox indicated that he was going to keep some coordinators and assistants from the previous staff. My guess would be McCoy, Ben McDaniels, and Eric Studesville have to be the ones under consideration to stay. Maybe Wink.

@ Idaho Nate. I think Fox will have a quarterback competition in training camp to determine who the starter will be. At least I sure hope so. I want the best one to start, whoever that is.

Did the speculation about McCoy going to Cleveland start before Fox was hired, and he thought he would be let go by whoever was hired as HC? So now if he&#8217s asked to stay, maybe he will.

Did any reporters ever ask him if Tebow would be the starting qb? I somewhat expected him to address that question, and since I never heard him say that I am some what worried that there is the possibility of having to watch the neckbeard again next year.

I really was impressed with his matter-of-fact, up-front responses, how obvious his personable, mature style is and although the questions were appropriately perfunctory, how comfortable handling it all he is. As he&#8217s said, it&#8217s not his first rodeo, and that was the single thing that sold me on him the most.

While we&#8217ve talked here on the site about the league changing from a run the ball/stop the run kind of league to one that is based predominately in passing, you can&#8217t pass effectively if you can&#8217t run the ball, and you can&#8217t make an offense one-dimensional if you can&#8217t stop the run.

I also like his multi-back approach to the running game - from a simple medical viewpoint, asking one back to carry the load, to make an unintentional pun, especially when that RB is only 210 lb, is asking for injury problems and I was very surprised when that was the other coach&#8217s preference. I like Fox&#8217s more - it just makes sense.

The fact that he barely talked around wanting another top back also is exciting - let&#8217s face it, with Tebow, our stable of receivers, improving the OL depth (and if Harris can&#8217t stay healthy, he&#8217s not the player for Denver, much as I admire him) potentially upgrading the O with another high-quality RB would give Denver one heck of an offense. We&#8217re going to have to look at TE as well; I also like that Fox tends to use a lot of 2 TE looks.

Seriously, I was pretty impressed with how Fox handled things during the interview. He didn&#8217t tip his hand too much, but said the right things to make fans comfortable with the direction the franchise is likely to take. Hopefully his hiring will settle the fan base down a bit and they approach 2011 being cautiously optimistic about things.

Schefter was also on ESPN yesterday basically saying Rico was the strong favorite in Denver, just hours before Fox was hired. Not saying he&#8217s wrong about McCoy to Cleveland, but take it with a grain of salt.

OK, guys: if McCoy&#8217s out, who would you like to see Fox bring in? Fassel may be an option. Who else?

I still don&#8217t understand why McCoy would chose going to Cleveland to be their OC instead of working with John Fox and staying where he is to be OC in Denver, but I guess Schefter knows something we don&#8217t.

What did you think of the Fox hire for Denver? Does he keep McCoy as OC, or reach out to Fassel, seems like that combo (in reverse) worked well with the Giants&#8230

Russ: He&#8217d like to keep McCoy, but everything I hear is that McCoy could be Cleveland bound. If he leaves, then Denver will have a critical hire to make on the offensive side of the football. Fassel would make sense, but Denver never called him during its head coaching search, so I&#8217m not sure if it would start now.

Elway is solid. I hope he can make sure Xanders does his part so that Fox doesn&#8217t get stuck with too much.

Fox and his coach&#8217s voice are going to be fun to hear the next several yrs.

I hate to say it, but Bowlen doesn&#8217t look right. I do think Elway is working himself to be the face of the franchise (ownership-wise).
