Happy 52nd Birthday, Karl Mecklenburg!

For those who didn't get to see the Snow Goose in action, he went from being a 12th-round pick in 1983 to playing in 180 games (141 starts) for the Broncos, and was arguably their best defender on their trio of late-80s Super Bowl teams.

The epitome of versatility, Mecklenburg tallied 1,104 tackles and 79 sacks while playing in all seven spots along Denver's defensive front.

Along with Randy Gradishar and Steve Atwater, Mecklenburg ranks as one of the Broncos' biggest HOF snubs among defenders, but was a semifinalist in this year's voting. He was inducted to Denver's Ring of Fame along with Dennis Smith in 2001.
