Poetry in demotion:
I’m glad we had this talk. Now, vaya con Dios, Brah.
Agree, disagree, just like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter so I can quit my day job.
Actually, that pass appeared pretty much on the money. It looked as if the receiver short-armed it, worrying more about the defender coming up than the pass. Tebow often threw passes into another area code, but this didn't seem one of those times.
Timmy will be the first to man-up and admit that this play is something he and his receiver need weren't on the same page.
I'm just glad to see Tebow gone. Like really glad.
tunesmith, Sammy Winder was what????you tell'em Kell_C
(btw, 86 baby!!)
We call them Reagan's children.
Brothers and Sisters,
I'm late to the show as usual. Really late. But this is just about my favorite thing ever. My only real complaint is that Drew Magaray didn't pick a particularly bad Tebow throw to immortalize. And the effect really isn't the same without first seeing him wander around the pocket like somebody deinstitutionalized 30 years ago.
I wish Sammy would have been on the Broncos at the same time as Terrell Davis. He would have been a much better backup than Derek Loville.
This is the only comment (so far) in this thread that truly offended me. Sammy Winder was awesome and anybody who says otherwise is a Raiderlicker.
I have great relationships with all my ex-girlfriends, even the one who got kind of stalkery for a while.
That is some high quality HD gif.
That was a good throw-away. If the pass was on-target it was probably a pick-six.
On the other hand, this play isn't quite so defensible: http://media.lockerdome.com/up...
I just sorta dislike ragging in general. Whether it's on Tebow or McD or even Orton. It's sorta like, ok fine, you feel like you were in a bad relationship. Do you have to keep on ragging on your ex-girlfriend? It's lame. She's out of your life - be happy about the present, rather than the contrast to the past.
By the way, I AM SO GLAD WE DON'T HAVE DAN REEVES AS A COACH! OH MY GOD11!!!!11!! SAMMY WINDER WAS SUCH A BAD RUNNER!!!!!!! WHY CAN'T ANYONE SEE THAT??!?!!
Why don't you just copy and paste one for me?
Yahmule You are very incorrect. If you read through some of the comments to my post, you'll see that some people are man enough to admit that that's how they feel.
Assuming they are in it for the money, how much is that ad in the corner bringing in? Enough to pay for their morning cup of coffee? If they are in it for the money, why haven't they gone the MHR route and allowed readers to make full posts?
I like ragging on McDaniels and Tebow. I also enjoy unpleasantness at the expense of Dan Reeves, Ian Gold and Jake Plummer, just to name a few. These are a few of my favorite things.
AR on-line/ new media is bought in many different ways. you are referring to the low end type that only pays for the clicks. Other advertisers are more into the branding aspect of the medium(think Anheuser Busch) and could care less if the add is clicked. Its about branding, huge difference between the 2. Site owners aspire to have advertiser that pay for branding, unless they create a revenue share on items purchased through the portal. Regardless of all of this, the only way to monetize a site is through traffic. The more the better. Dont be naive in thinking @IAOFM does not look and know what moves the meter on their google analytic reports.
David, I think you believe people would have preferred 4-12 because most Christians harbor persecution fantasies and they love nothing better than to think the worst about people. To each his own, I guess.
I rooted for Tebow last year because I would root for any Bronco quarterback, his utter paucity of skills required to play the position as it's required in today's NFL notwithstanding. As far as Tebow off the field, I'm glad we no longer have a quarterback who aligns himself with a blatant hate group like the loathsome bigots from the American Family Association. I will root against him in New York because the majority of his fans are ignorant hypocrites. I will laugh at his miscues because they are funny.
Ok, you aren't going to speak for IAOFM, but if you aren't speaking about IAOFM then what point are you making?
I agree with your point that in media, quantity of viewership outweights quality of material. I disagree that IAOFM is meant to make money. They sure did produce a lot of content before the ad showed up. You're telling that online advertisers are selective about who they allow to display their ads? I thought it was pay per pageview. Online ads are like commissioned based insurance salesmen. Hire as many as you want, if they don't perform it costs the company nothing. Unless online ads actually are selective, it could have been there since day one.
If Ted wants to quit his day job and write sports full time, taking the time and doing the work to get an MBA seems like an odd way to go about it.
ivanthenotsobad I don't think it's that some readers express displeasure when anyone rags on Tebow. I think it's more that since Teebs left the Broncos there has never been a span of 2 days (pretty sure it's two, but it may be three) where he was not made fun of in a Prime Cuts article or mocked/referenced in the Daily Lard.
AR I am not going to speak for @IAOFM but I feel very confident in being able to speak about how and why media is bought and sold. PFT is a great model of small site that built its audience around topics that drive traffic. If they ignored the importance of revenue creation they would have never been acquired by NBC, and Florio would be a poor hack instead of a rich hack.
Investors and advertiser have this thing called ROI that is important to them..... As self righteous as you may think these guys are I am pretty sure they would love to quite their day jobs and do this full time. The only way they can do that is to drive traffic... hits =$$$ The age old adage of follow the money for any and all answers once again holds true. Look at the comment section 60+ comments on this topic so far... When was the last time one of Doc's well thought out immaculately constructed educational pieces had that type of action?
Sam Thanks for the heads up on that one but I prefer my "sports" garbage to come from barstoolsports.com
But my how it makes the purity ring technical virgin girls squeal.
Beefy frame. I love it. Not exactly how you want your QB described.
There are some on this site who rag on McD every chance they get, but express displeasure when anyone rags on Tebow. Talk about double standard.I didn't like the Tebow pick, I didn't think he would ever amount to an NFL QB, I didn't like his self-appointed role as the icon for Christianity (too self-conscious, self-righteous, self-important - more like the NT portrayal of the Pharisees), and don't mind the reminders that, in hindsight, (his unbelieveable lucky streak, and subsequent miserable streak, notwithstanding) he was and is kind of a joke (a potentially new successful role for him - as the straight man in a comedy team). But I also like the talk about the current Broncos.
I thought he has been working on his footwork? Look how far he over strides, lowering his shoulder. Does his beefy frame impeed a proper throwing motion?
Or maybe, deep down, he imagines himself to be a running back?
He was waaaay more accurate with the ball in college. Maybe he should never have messed with his motion in the first place?
When you stop for a minute and consider that the step-refs might not know you can't catch a pass beyond the sideline stripe, Timmy's pass makes a lot more sense.
Braso, level with us. Are you the proprietor of RBLSportsNet.com? They run an operation that I think you'd enjoy at least; you'd be their only real, live reader.

So IAOFM was supposed to have ads all along, but they couldn't because there wasn't enough traffic? So it was decided to exploit TT Drama as much as possible for more clicks, so the agency would allow them ads on the site. Um, ok.
If someone wanted to exploit TT Drama for profit, it would be so much easier to just make a t shirt.http://profootballtalk.nbcspor...
The Panthers' Safety probably went back to Tebow and gave him an earful for overthrowing him and almost putting him right into the Jets' receiver.
So, back to the throw. My favorite part is how the receiver abandons any hope of catching the ball the second it leaves St. Timothy's hand. His head immediately swings to the approaching DB. He's bracing for the hit before the ball even sails over his head.
Expect the Jets to try to sign Shawn Bradley or Dikembe Mutombo.
ohiobronco I am pretty sure they are now posting advertisers on the site. Why is that? Hmmmm because an ad agency recognized them for having a certain number of clicks and traffic and member interaction that equals money. An agency doesnt base their media allocations on really cool articles and hyperbole.. They base them on hits and clicks, if you dont recognize that simple fact then there is nothing more to discuss. This is how media is bought and sold on a daily basis regardless of the medium.
Had to appease the party that bought and paid for the billboard.
BRASO, not blinded by hate. Just had my eyes open to reality, and the goal is multiple championship runs, not "hey, we got to the playoffs". I've heard enough of that since 1999. I'm willing to give up one season to misery if it means 2 or more seasons in the Super Bowl.
Uhh, you were posting in the comments. Again you are wildly off the mark. Sites that post content soley to generate hits end up with lame ass websites. This is not a lame ass website.
Haha! Good Major League reference.
@AR, I don't know about that. If we were gunning for Luck, wouldn't we just have kept Orton in the game? He was doing just fine.
ohiobronco didnt realize I was talking to you.... I was directly talking to @IAOFM But hey thank you for being there to speak for them, and totally clueless about how websites work and make money. ALL sites are about traffic and hits, that's how they make $$$ and I dont think they are a non profit organization.
Ok ok ok, can we get focused and back on track? We are SUPPOSED to be posting smart/funny comments about the video, or Timmy's passing in general. It started out as a great party, then serious comments started showing up.
I agree with BRASO and Sam. I appreciate the wild ride we had last year, but he's no longer on the team. Some players you root for when they leave, some players your poke fun at. Either way, it's all fair game. This is what football has turned into with the advent of free agency. I didn't like Tebow before he became a Bronco. Once he did, it took a while to warm up to him and I had to get over his self branding to do so. Now that he's off the team, I get to make fun of him again.
Fail. Not about traffic, the site writers genuinely enjoy mocking Tebow as do the vast majority of readers.
I think it actually hit the Panthers mascot in the head. Tebow was trying to stop the clock like in that movie Varsity Blues.
@IAOFM hats off to you guys for putting up a post that will drive traffic like crazy... You got me, and am irritated with myself that I fell for it... again....
If you could please point us all in the direction of the fellow who said he would have rather finish 4-12 last year, that would be great. I haven't doled out a beating in some time.
BRASO You do know that we can appreciate the wild ride of last year and still make fun of him now, correct? He doesn't play here anymore. His lack of ability got him sent elsewhere.
The only thing as silly as a Tebow zombie is a Tebow defender. My goodness gracious. Kyle Orton started out 6-0 in Denver before his defense completely shit the bed... where are his defenders?
Says a 5 season playoff drought seems like eternity, tells someone else to get some persepctive.
Compairing the 4-12 season to winning the division (the two sweetest words in the english language! De-fault) seems to make about as much sense as compairing Tebow to a skinny kid with athsma.
it looked good to me at first too, but look at how close the ball gets just before it passes out of view. The camera man had a better shot at it than the receiver.
Magary nailed it:"The Broncos got back into the playoffs last season thanks to a nasty defense, a great offensive line, and a coaching staff that was smart enough to minimize Tebow's straight dropbacks. And yet, any time he won a game, five million Promise Keepers would show up online to be like GOD IS TALKING THROUGH TIM TEBOW'S RUGGED BEARD STUBBLE or something horrible like that."
Even the wins last year were as painful as they were exciting. Tebow fans managed to suck every ounce of fun out of being a Broncos fan for two full years. So no, I am not going to look back with glowing fondness on everything he "did for" the team. More like "did to".
I appear to be the rare fan that didn't think Tebow was particularly responsible for the team's success last year, but enjoyed him anyway. After more than a decade of mediocre QB play (I liked Plummer, though), it was refreshing to just see something different. I did feel like we were throwing in the towel a bit, but the way the team fought and scrapped its way to the playoffs was kind of fun. The media was annoying, Tebowites were annoying (make that anyone who thought it was about more than football), and three quarters of three and outs were tough to watch. But I enjoyed watching our D step up, watching our special teams step up, and the spare number of offensive big plays made them all the more exciting when we actuallyl pulled out a win. I was not under the delusion that we were superbowl bound with the guy, so I was watching purely for the entertainment of seeing something REALLLY different. And I feel that season should go down as one of the most remarkable (not best, but truly remarkable) seasons in franchise history, and should be honored as such. It was the year the fight came back into our team, number 15 notwithstanding.
Tebow really blew it. Even though John Elway can't say it publicly, he expected Tebow to deliver Andrew Luck not a playoff win.
Claudezilla That was awesome.
John Tomasik are you really comparing winning the division and a playoff game to a cancer ridden 4-12 season? Dude, you need some perspective in a major way. I am trilled to have Manning as my QB but I am not going to diminish the run we had last year to suit folks like you that are blinded by hate. We won a playoff game for the first time in what seems like an eternity.
I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see Haney turn into a half decent QB on this team. But let's hope we never have a chance to find out.
I will never, ever wish we had Tebow back. I'd rather lose miserably with any backup QB and get a good draft pick.
My thought exactly!
I hated every single minute that Tebow was a Denver Bronco. I will always hate those minutes.
The more I look at it, the more I think TT Drama would be an awesome WWE name.
My least favorite part of last season was how the tune suddenly changed from "Orton sucks, the line is ok, the receivers are ok" to "Tebow is ok, the line sucks, the receivers suck". Losing was misery. So was TT Drama. It sucked all the fun out of the wins.
Ok....ok....ok.....throat cancer was less painful than pancreatic cancer. But it's still cancer.
We can turn this around and ask where would we rather be: the Broncos with Manning or the Broncos with Tebow?
No matter how much less painful last year was (and it still was with Tebow), the fact remains he SUCKS at being a modern day passing QB. Oh, those were pretty crappy teams that the Broncos beat with him at the helm. Just because the Broncos won with him doesn't mean they wouldn't have with Neckbeard.
THANK YOU JOHN ELWAY.
Not until marriage.
Only problem: Hanie played the bulk of those games without Matt Forte, who is the true top cog in the Bears offense. This is a point so many people keep forgetting.
boydy2669 I agree, but its not so much the guys that run this site. for me its more about "Bronco" fans refusing to give the kid credit for what was accomplished with #15 at QB last year. I wish #15 the best and will always be grateful for the excitement he provided for my team.
Know what's almost as funny as this? Guys that tell everyone that Tebow really is a great QB, but know better than to have him on their fantasy team.
(Cause 3 and outs are not worth points.)
Hanie won't cause a devided fanbase. Everyone will agree that Hanie sucks.
I'm guessing you aren't a fan of KSK?
Compairing Tebow to a skinny kid with athsma? Um....?
Anyway, if Timmy didn't do so many funny things, we wouldn't be able to make so many funny comments.
I honesty believe that many people on this site would rather the Broncos have gone 4-12 last year than get to the playoffs with our ex-QB that can't throw. Some of it is ideological, as many people are opposed to Tebow's mania/circus, self-promotion, or ideology. Some of it is they were outraged to see someone play from the QB position that can't throw a short or medium pass. But I remember our 4-12 season two years ago, and I hated every single minute of it. I couldn't stand to do that two years in a row. I think it's sad that Bronco fans would rather go 4-12 two seasons in a row than win they way they did with Teebs. To each his own, I guess.
I think he needs glasses.
Every Manning article on the whole internet is already posted on here. Is Marcus Thomas a skinny asthmatic bullying victim too?
If the Broncos have to use Caleb Hanie or Osweiler as the starting QB, we may well wish we had Tebow. The Bears didn't do so hot with Hanie at the helm. At least this FRS-swigging, shirtless running, QB-that-is-really-an RB had a positive record last year. Yes, I know, our awesome defense and random luck played a part. But Hanie was on a pretty decent team and he didn't fare so well. Hopefully we don't need to talk about Hanie this year, but after all, Hanie's just a backup like that guy throwing the ball in poetry in demotion.
Not mad. Just over it. Makes a lot on here seem like bullies picking on the skinny kid with asthma is all. Can only beat a dead horse so much. I have my opinions on Tebow, but he does not play with Denver anymore. Would rather read a story on Manning, than watch a bunch of grown men pick on a dude that helped our team like they are high school kids.
I had to watch it through 7 times, because I was thinking it was thrown somewhere close to the receiver, and I couldn't see it. Then I realized Tebow was aiming for the TV camera. No surprise there!
Did you guys see his interception last week? There were about 4 defenders right in front of his receiver, and he threw it right into the pack. Too funny.
I feel like he's finally expanding his targets. The chain gang tends to get a little disinterested when the ball's not coming their way.
The point? Comedy.
TJ, LOVE the avatar!!!
To be fair, he spent the morning flipping over monster truck tires. Let's see that Manning Clown do that and see how well he throws!
Receiver ran the wrong route. The play calls for 88 to go out of bounds.
Now he's had an off season that new throwing motion is looking good
Lol, on purpose.
He's just thanking John Elway for taking that no-throwing waste of space and sending him somewhere that we don't have to deal with throws like this.
That's all. No harm no foul.
Not to come off as a zombie, but he may have overthrown him on purpose when he saw the defender closing. An accurate pass there is probably picked off.
Either way it was another completion to his top target (the ground), so what's the big deal?
U MAD THO?
like it or not its their site! I enjoy a lot of what is talked about and said here but sometimes, like everyone else including myself, they beat a dead horse!
at least he isn't throwing from his hip any more!
I just dont see the point of putting in the boot to a dude that does not even play for us any more. Each to their own I guess. Seems a little bush league to me.
See............All that hard work Timmie put in is paying off...............
I believe they showed it from the other side as well in the article linked in the 'Raiders' lard. It cleared his head by a good 7 feet. Wadlow, with his 12 foot reach, would still have needed to jump.
It's hard to tell from this angle. I may have to go back and re-watch this (oh the agony!). From here this actually looks like one of his better passes, the reciever just doesn't even make an atempt at it. Maybe and different angle will reveal that even Robert Wadlow (tallest person in recorded history, 8ft 11in) couldn't have caught this pass.
But, like Rex Ryan said, it was good that he didn't cream a cheerleader.
That's a little unfair. It doesn't show the end result of the throw, a perfect strike into the trash can.
