Eric Winston to fans: We’re not gladiators

If you haven't heard Eric Winston's rant yet (after Chiefs fans cheered Matt Cassel's head injury), it's well worth the time--the crack in his voice, the acknowledgement of the risks to his health, and the power with which he speaks.  He later added via Twitter:

"I've said what I wanted to say and i won't be talking about it any further. I stand by what I have said. I believe what I said."

It would be easy to dismiss this incident as the singular stupidity of a bunch of drunk Chiefs fans, but we all know, deep down, this isn't an isolated incident.

In my time as a Broncos fan (whatever the hell that means), I've met a lot of people who say they "bleed orange and blue."  Unfortunately, for some of these fans, this is code for what they really mean: my emotional wellbeing rests on the results of the last Broncos game.  If the Broncos hit too close to home, one can just as easily insert any other NFL team.  It makes little difference.

Unfortunately, some of these fans also know how to use a computer.

I’m glad we had this talk.  Now, vaya con Dios, Brah.

Agree, disagree, just like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter so I can quit my day job.
