Decker lands with Jets

Eric Decker has agreed to a five-year deal with the Jets worth a reported $36.25M, including what's being called $15M in guarantees. Decker told the DP:

I'm very thankful for my four years in Denver. I think it's one of the greatest cities to play in. Unfortunately, I never got an offer from the Broncos. Denver will always be a part of me. I'm excited about New York being my new community and starting a new chapter in my life. On top of all that, my wife's expecting our baby any second.

It may surprise some that Denver wasn't willing to sign Decker at those numbers, but with Demaryius and Julius Thomas set to hit free agency next year, and Peyton Manning figuring to retire at any point, the Broncos' priorities have been rather clear.

Decker and his wife, Jessie, the second season of whose reality show is set to start soon, figure to be a natural fit in the country's biggest media center.

The 2010 third-rounder turns 27 on Saturday; in four seasons with Denver, he caught 222 passes for 3,070 yards and 33 touchdowns.

Chase Stuart and Doug Farrar analyze the signing.
