Champ Bailey expected back with Broncos

Despite speculation earlier in the week that Champ Bailey might end up a cap casualty, Mike Klis reports that the future HOF corner will be back with the Broncos in 2013.

However, Klis and PFT appear to be incorrect in writing that Champ is scheduled to make $10.5M in his 15th NFL season and 10th with Denver. His base salary was originally worth $9M, but the latest of 12 Pro Bowl selections for the 34-year old triggered a $500K escalator.

Additionally, Bailey is due a $1M roster bonus and $500K workout bonus, bringing his total compensation (and cap number) to $11M.

None of his compensation is guaranteed, so there is always the possibility of a renegotation between the two sides.

While Champ again played at an elite level throughout the 2012 regular season, his performance against Baltimore in Denver's shocking playoff loss was among the worst of his career.

Re-signing Champ to a four-year, $43M contract was the first major move of John Elway's tenure running Denver's football operations.
