Broncos re-sign Steven Johnson for one year

Despite having been non-tendered as a restricted free agent, linebacker Steven Johnson will be back with the Broncos for another season. According to Mike Klis, Denver will give Johnson a $100K signing bonus and non-guaranteed $660K veteran minimum salary. He can earn another $25K if he makes the 53-man roster and up to $150K in playing time incentives.

A right of first refusal tender would have cost Denver $1.542M, which is obviously too much for a backup linebacker and special teams player. But obviously, Johnson didn't find a better opportunity elsewhere over the weekend. Of course, the Broncos are only committed to the $100K signing bonus, so Johnson is far from a lock to make the final roster.
