Broncos cut sixth-rounder Vinston Painter

According to Mike Klis, the Broncos have waived sixth-round tackle Vinston Painter, but hope to get him through waivers and onto their practice squad.

Klis adds that Chris Clark will stick as the main backup tackle, with left guard Zane Beadles the fourth outside option. Louis Vasquez saw some action at right tackle this summer when Orlando Franklin went down with an injury, so he figures to be the fallback beyond Beadles.

Considering how deep this Denver roster is, there's no shame in having the current year's sixth-rounder not make the final cut. That's the reality of an NFL overdog.

On the other hand, drafting then-26-year-old Philip Blake in the fourth round of the 2012 Draft, stashing him on IR as a rookie, and then cutting him now? That's a relatively disastrous draft choice, at least as far as fourth-rounders go.
