The Broncos have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent linebacker Reggie Walker, it was announced on Thursday. In four seasons with Arizona and two more with San Diego, Walker (6-0, 244) has 98 career tackles, along with 3.5 sacks, four passes defensed, and a fumble forced.
According to Mike Klis, Walker got a $50K signing bonus, $745K (veteran minimum) salary, and can earn another $200K in playing time incentives.
The Kansas State alum turned 28 in December, and was cut by the Chargers two weeks ago. He was due to draw a $1M salary with San Diego in the last season of a three-year deal.
Over 150 snaps in 2014, Walker graded out at minus-9.9. He played significant defensive snaps in 2013 (549 of them), but graded out at a dreadful minus-14.8.
Adding Walker might mean Nate Irving is headed elsewhere after visiting with Arizona and Indy.
Along with Vance Walker and Shelley Smith, Walker is the third street free agent Denver has signed this offseason. Because they were released by their prior teams, Smith and the two Walkers won't count against Denver when 2016 compensatory picks are calculated.
