I agree that things are looking increasingly bad for the owners. They&#8217re really coming off as the greedy party here, whereas the player&#8217s concerns have tended to be entirely reasonable, especially in light of the never-ending stream of concussion and dementia-related news that&#8217s come out the last few years. Personally, I think I&#8217d like to see the NFL crack open it&#8217s books not just for the players, but for the general public as well. The NFL enjoys many special benefits within our culture, government, and economy, I think it&#8217s fair to argue that the public has an interest in seeing the books as well (at least from an ethical standpoint, I&#8217m not sure that&#8217d hold water legally).

And going to 18 games is just a bad idea, for fans as well as players. I think the players&#8217 concerns are entirely valid and take precedence over my concerns as a fan any day of the week. But leaving those aside for the moment, more football is not necessarily what I want as a fan. I want quality football that&#8217s easier to integrate into my life. I think the 16 game schedule and the current number of teams work very well together, especially with 8 divisions in the league. Things like airing more games on Thanksgiving and Christmas, Thursday night games, and the prime-time draft only serve to make it harder for me to follow the NFL without causing conflicts with my family. and adding games to either the regular season or the post season would potentially water down the quality and drama of the games themselves.

I am so sick and tired of this legal process. And if the reaction at the draft was any indication, your average Miller Lite drinking fan is angry at the owners, not the players
