2015 coaching carousel features several names quite familiar to Broncos fans

As the regular season winds down, a few names quite familiar to Broncos Land are providing Jim Harbaugh with some company on the 2015 coaching carousel. According to Jason La Canfora, owner Arthur Blank has decided to fire Mike Smith unless the Falcons make an unlikely and deep playoff run.

Current Broncos OC Adam Gase and former head coach Josh McDaniels are said to be high on Atlanta's list, along with Stanford's David Shaw. McDaniels and Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff worked together for six years in New England, and Gase was first brought to Denver by McDaniels in 2009.

In a separate report focusing on Michigan's coaching search as it relates to the NFL, La Canfora adds that Gase figures to be hotly sought after for interviews during Denver's likely bye week. Three weeks ago, La Canfora reported that Gase would be among the frontrunners to replace Harbaugh in San Francisco.

Gase and McDaniels were among the prime targets for Cleveland and Jimmy Haslam last offseason. But Gase removed his name from consideration without an interview, while McDaniels exited their job search in somewhat comedic fashion (he didn't want the job, then he was interested, then he was never leaving New England sorry/not sorry).

La Canfora adds that McDaniels' Denver predecessor may being considered for the Bears gig, with Jay Cutler apparently unwilling to facilitate a trade by altering his albatross of a contract. JLC says Mike Shanahan has maintained a "very close relationship" with Cutler, and the Illinois native would apparently be interested in the job.

Per La Canfora, Shanny and Mini Shanny learned in Washington that they're no longer able to work together, so the two wouldn't be reuniting in Chicago. However he does seem to suggest that Gary Kubiak could leave Baltimore to work for his old boss again. The way the article is written, it's kind of unclear whether Mini Shanny and Kubes would also be candidates for the head job.

In still another report, La Canfora says Chicago will also consider Arizona DC Todd Bowles, who should draw plenty of interest, including from the LOLJets.
