Just two years after selecting him 61st overall, San Francisco has waived running back LaMichael James.

According to his agent, James requested his release from the team.

In 15 games, the Oregon product had 41 carries and five catches, returned 23 punts and 26 kickoffs, and fumbled four times.

RIP, Goose Gonsoulin

Original Bronco and Ring of Famer Goose Gonsoulin passed away at 76.

Gonsoulin's 11 interceptions in 1960 remain a single-season franchise record, while his 43 career picks are second only to Steve Foley's 44.

Report: Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson out for season with torn Achilles

The Chiefs defense was dealt a massive blow on Sunday, as Derrick Johnson suffered what is believed to be a torn Achilles.

Ian Rapoport says the injury is a season ender for Johnson, who graded out at +18.6 over 1,038 snaps in 2013.

The ninth-year linebacker had 4.5 sacks, two picks, seven passes defensed, and 107 total tackles last year.

La Canfora: New drug agreement may not save Wes Welker

According to Jason La Canfora, agreement on a new drug policy may not cut short the suspensions of Wes Welker and Josh Gordon.

An NFLPA source tells La Canfora that the league and union aren't nearly as close to a deal as has been reported.

La Canfora also confirmed an earlier report by Mike Klis that Welker's suspension was triggered by Adderall use, not Molly.

Jacob Tamme takes a pay cut

It took several months longer than we'd expected, but the Broncos have finally reworked the contract of Jacob Tamme.

The backup tight end was set to make an unwieldy $3M salary; according to Arnie Stapleton, he has agreed to cut that to $1.25M.

Broncos promote Nathan Palmer to take Welker’s roster spot

With Wes Welker headed to the reserve/suspended list, the Broncos promoted wideout Nathan Palmer from the practice squad on Wednesday.

The former Colt and Dolphin caught one pass for seven yards during the preseason.

Colorado native Ryan Miller was added to the practice squad in Palmer's place.

Report: Oakland offers to forgive Raiders’ debt, help build new stadium

According to the SF Chronicle, the city of Oakland has proposed to give the Raiders free land on which to build a new stadium.

Per the report, taxpayers would not be burdened with paying construction costs for a new Black Hole.

However, Alameda County residents would be saddled with $120M of the Raiders' 1990s-era debt from a renovation of the O.Co Coliseum. (via PFT)

Cleveland signed tackle Vinston Painter off Denver's practice squad on Tuesday, prompting the Broncos to sign long snapper Kevin McDermott.

According to the DP, McDermott will get a chance to compete with Aaron Brewer for the team's long snapping duties.
